Snuffle Mats are one of our favourite enrichment tools. Why do we LOVE snuffle mats?
♥ Made with soft fleece, they are super safe for short nosed and bulgy-eyed dogs (you know the type – Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (my girls), Pug, French Bulldog, Boston Terrier, Shih Tzu, Lhasa Apso…).
♥ Nervous, anxious and less confident dogs can use a snuffle mat easily and without additional stress
♥ Fantastic for puppies to help engage them, build confidence, occupy and calm them
♥ Blind dogs can safely use a snuffle mat as it generally stays in place, rather than moving around like other enrichment toys
♥ After your dog has had surgery or is on instructions to rest, a snuffle mat can help to occupy and relax them
♥ It is a QUIET and CALMING enrichment toy that can be used in almost any location – inside, outside, in a crate, in the car, etc
♥ Snuffle mats can be used with ANY breed of dog – large, small and in-between
♥ If you are feeding a component of dry food, you can help slow your dog’s eating by placing the food pieces throughout the snuffle mat
♥ Easy to set up – simply hide your dog’s treat of choice in amongst the dense fleece, pop down on the ground and let them do their thing
♥ The snuffle mat provides mental stimulation for your dog while keeping them calm. It is generally a low-arousal activity (although my dogs do get pretty excited when they see the mat come out!).
♥ Easy to clean – gently hand-wash in a tub or bath, rinse thoroughly and lay outside on a flat surface to dry
This Snuffle Mat is sized at approximately 420mm x 300mm (exact size may vary slightly due to variances in the individual hand making process)
* Always make sure your snuffle mat is in good condition, trim any loose pieces of fleece or worn rubber mat. Do not leave with your dog unsupervised if they tend to chew and destroy toys and objects. Make sure your dog is not chewing and/or swallowing pieces of fleece. Discard the mat if it becomes worn out.
